Farm, Pond and Woodland

The Turbine

A Powerwind, EWT or Ennercon or similar will be installed. In all cases the maximum tower will be 50m with a maximum height overall of 78m. It would be built on land 64m above sea level making the overall height above sea level less than other nearby projects.

The turbine will generate a between of 500kw and 1MW (depending on choice of turbine) when working. This will be fed by underground cable directly into the national grid. There will be no need for pylons or additional telegraph poles.

The development will be situated on land next to Upper Fir Covert, Selbrigg Farm Hempstead.
The land is part of a working arable farm and is located 1.6km North of the village of Hempstead, and 2.9km East of Holt.

The turbine will provide sufficient electricity to meet the equivalent annual energy needs of between approximately 343 and 600 homes. The proposed access track would be constructed of stone chippings. In addition, concrete would be delivered to site for turbine foundation construction.

A small substation will be constructed by the base of the turbine to transform the voltage. The Site Layout page shows this.
