Farm, Pond and Woodland

Future Plans

At present we are working on options to fund the majority of the restoration of the pond ourselves, and with the assistance of the Norfolk Rivers Trust 9 Chalk Rivers Project, rather than seeking numerous grants. Full details will be available once complete.

We have been working with specialist pond conservation contractors to dredge the pond mindful of the biodiversity that currently depends on it but also seeking to improve biodiversity itself.

The next phase should be to clear the invasive trees currently seen at the back of the pond, these have self seeded and grown over the last 15 years, and then to dredge out this area of pond (0.36Ha). Planning permission has been granted for this and hopefully it should take place Autumn 2015.

Boathouse

There used to be a boat house on the North Bank about half way along (Shown on the initial Ordnance survey maps.) As a final part of the project, therefore in about 2017 the intention would be to restore a boat house on the pond and incorporate a bird watching hide. At this stage it’s a wish, and no firmer plans made. It would be subject to the normal planning application process.
